From the romantic strums of 50s guitar pop, to the gutsy and relentless energy of contemporary garage rock, Sloan Peterson ticks all the boxes. Creating love songs full of sweet sensibilities reminiscent of a time gone by, the Sydney songwriter draws strong influence from musical legends past and present, from the likes of David Bowie and The Beatles, to Gwen Stefani / No Doubt and Metric.

With her musical beginnings in Sydney punk band Black Zeros, Sloan Peterson’s songwriting combined with her love for past eras eventually led her towards a different path. “I’m so inspired by motion and colours. Ever since I can remember I’ve never wanted to sit in silence. It’s a blessing and a curse,” she says.

The release of her bold debut single ‘105’ was an impressive one, attracting instant attention from Triple J, and reaching internationally to airplay on renowned stations KCRW and Beats 1. Sloan Peterson’s unique and retro-meets-contemporary style also saw her collaborate with Strand Arcade to create an interactive music video for the track, with praise from fashion authorities VOGUE and RUSSH.

Sloan Peterson’s sophomore release, ‘Rats’, quickly followed suit, and both singles shared media support from international tastemakers Stereogum, Paste Magazine, DIY, and The Wild Honey Pie. Later that year she released the debut EP ‘Midnight Love’, a deeply personal account that Sloan Peterson describes as “a bit like reading my diary out loud.”

The remainder of 2017 was a whirlwind for Sloan Peterson, and saw her playing showcases at BIGSOUND, followed by east coast tours with the likes of Alex Lahey, Holy Holy, and Portugal The Man (USA).

Crossing into 2018, Sloan Peterson secured festival stints at Lost Paradise and Reverb, and saw her continue her ascent into the fashion world, participating in campaigns with the likes of Springcourt, General Pants, Monster Children, and Adidas.

Behind the scenes Sloan Peterson has been working hard on her sophomore EP with producer Thomas Rawle (DRELLER / Papa VS Pretty), with the first single ‘Our Love’ serving as a taste of what’s to come.

Catch Sloan Peterson live across the east coast this October.
